Many of us as we age are inclined to believe that we can relax a little more and not have it be a factor on our health. This is not accurate and in the aging process we can endure with problems like foot pain, tenderness, numbing and callouses, or bunions that can directly affect our desire to continue to move.
In one instance we have seen blisters formed under the callous and this has meant the client needed wound care on top of regular nail/foot care. In this instance the client saw a Podiatrist and was able to heal the blister and remove the callous.
However, it was not until the client was walking on the side of their foot and decreasing activity that we insisted their care be upgraded with medical attention.
We ask that if you are having any of the issues listed in this article that you let both your caregiver and your doctor know immediately to avoid further issues.
