Crippling Moments

For those of us that suffer from anxiety a crippling moment can be as simple as a flat tire, even though you have a spare. Insufficient funds in a banking account when medications are needed. Or, in many cases of anxiety, any other uncomfortable encounter that makes us feel unloved, devalued, or insufficient.

Understand here and now some anxiety is considered normal through the medical profession. However, for those whom suffer with the ill effects of anxiety these so called crippling moments are catastrophic. The mind in its moment is not able to re-evaluate any part of the situation to not think it real life. These affects of anxiety make not only the mental state respond in emergency meltdown but often there are physical manifestation to the attack. And then we pause….

What can be done?

I have found that for myself it needs sound. If it’s my favorite song, decibels too loud-great! If it helps me to re-focus, that’s what is needed to get the symptoms of my anxiety eased. Other techniques that have worked, depending on personal effort include: counting breaths, taking a mental catalog of what you can see, hear, taste and touch. Regular meditation is often helpful as well. Although these are only a few simple ideas, the point here is to be more conscience of those around us who suffer daily.
